This class is for people who haven't taken the plunge and want to know the basics of the social media landscape before diving in. So bring your lunch, and learn from Regina Walton's extensive social media experience!

This course will cover the basics of the social web as you'll learn about the big 4 social media sites: Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube. G+ isn't a big four site, but Regina will touch on it and on other sites like Pinterest. You'll find out the best ways to navigate these sites. You'll also learn what to watch out for regarding security and privacy.

The goal is for everyone to create a Twitter account (if it is not completed during our the class, you'll have 48 hours to send Regina the link). Your instructor will go over following and sending tweets and will also cover retweets and direct messages during the class -- you will for sure leave knowing what those terms mean! Handouts will be provided for you at the end of the class to continue your learning experience.

~This class is a beginner level course.~ If you're already doing your thing on the social web, this is going to be boring to you. The class limit is 10 people so sign up fast!

Pssss: Don't forget to bring your laptop or tablet (iPad or Android tablet) and be ready to learn.

As in all pariSoma CoLearning classes, snacks and beverages will be provided!

Though feel free to bring your own lunch if you would like a more substantial meal :)

About your Instructor

Regina Walton is a freelance social media consultant. She started off as a blogger when she lived abroad in Seoul, South Korea and realized that to get people to her blog, she had to master the social web. That got her a newspaper column with a press pass and led to many freelance writing assignments. It also led her to joining a few team blogs.

When she moved back to the States in 2009, she realized there was a market for people with her skills. That's how she became a social media consultant.  She started in NYC, but moved back to the Bay Area last year. Besides teaching courses on Social Media matters, she has also taught computer courses to seniors in NYC.
